Keeping Dogs Cool on Hot Summer Days

This year is seeing record high temperatures across the UK, how do we keep our dogs safe, cool and entertained during this extreme weather? Let’s find out…

Walk early morning and late evening

Walking early and late in the day is best to avoid the worst of the heat. If you can, find a woodland to walk in where you are shaded from the sun. The beach is great too if your dog loves swimming but be careful not to get caught out in the hot sun.

Get your dog a cooling vest

Cooling vests are specifically designed to stay cool for a long period of time without heating your dog up when they dry, unlike clothing and towels. Featured here is the Prestige Pets Cool-Coat which stays cool for hours!

Sniffing enrichment keeps dogs entertained

It’s understandable our dogs are getting fed up with the heat and lack of exercise so to give them some entertainment, enrichment games are a great activity. Things like scattering treats/kibble in your garden for them to hunt for. Or hiding toys around the house and encouraging your dog to find them.
